What we store
Very little, and none of it identifies you. There are no third-party trackers on this site, no advertising pixels, and no cookie banner — because there is nothing here that would need one.
Page views
Visits are counted with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless by design. It records that a page was viewed, roughly where in the world from, and what referred you — in aggregate. It does not set a cookie, does not build a profile, and cannot follow you to any other site. We use it for one thing: knowing which products people actually read.
Clicking out to a retailer
Every link to a retailer goes through this site first, at an address beginning /go/, before redirecting you on. That redirect is the only place anything is written down, and what it writes is this: which product link was used, a two-letter country code that Cloudflare supplies, the page you came from, and a random id stored in a cookie so that one person clicking five products is not counted as five people.
No IP address is stored, and no browser user agent is stored. The user agent is turned into an irreversible hash before it reaches the database, which is enough to tell automated traffic from real readers and is not enough to identify anyone. Neither the raw address nor the raw string is kept anywhere.
The one cookie
It is called ae_sid, it holds a random id and nothing else, and it lasts about thirty days. It is set only at the moment you click through to a retailer — browsing this site without clicking out sets no cookie at all. It is first-party, it cannot be read by any other site, and it is not shared with anyone. Clearing your cookies removes it, and nothing on this site stops working if you do.
If you enter your email address, we store that address, the page you entered it on, and a confirmation token. It is used to send the newsletter and nothing else: never sold, never rented, never passed to a retailer or a brand. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your address entirely at [email protected].
Affiliate links
Following a link here takes you to a retailer’s own site, where their privacy policy applies rather than ours. The retailer, and the affiliate network between us, will generally set their own cookie to record that the visit came from here — that is the mechanism by which the commission is attributed. How that works and what it does not change is set out on the disclosure page.
Everything else
The site is served through Cloudflare, which sees requests in transit as any content network does. Server logs are operational and short-lived. There is no account to create, nothing to log into, and no payment is ever taken here — every purchase happens on the retailer’s site, so no card details reach us at any point.
